‘Heat' director Michael Mann accidentally shoots himself in leg at L.A. gun range — Mountain View Health news

“Heat” director Michael Mann was briefly hospitalized over the weekend after accidentally shooting himself Saturday at a Los Angeles-area gun range. In a statement, a representative for the Emmy-award winning actor said Mann sustained a “superficial injury” when a firearm accidentally discharged while holstered. He was taken to a hospital where he was treated for a minor injury and released from a hospital. The 83-year-old filmmaker is an experienced target shooter for decades and was practicing at the range when the accident occurred. Los Angeles police responded to the gun range at about 4 p.m. Saturday on Missouri Avenue in the West Los Angeles area. Officers determined the shooting was accidental, the department said. Mann is best known for the 1986 thriller “Manhunter” and the 1995 crime epic “Heat.” He most recently directed the film “Ferrari,” with Adam Driver, and is reportedly developing a sequel to “Heat,” which is supposed to begin filming early next year.
